Fostering organizational skills in your business

Get Organized, Stay Organized

It’s best to start developing organizational skills right from the
start. Organizational skills are an important asset for businesses
owners, because there will be many demands on their work time as the
business takes off.

Organizing will help to maintain orderly progress in a sometimes-chaotic
workday. It’s easier to make the best use of work time by remaining aware of
all obligations and addressing them through effective organizational habits.

Here are a few simple
ideas to keep in mind:

  • Make a to-do list and prioritize it – HOW YOU GET STARTED!
  • Assign a place for everything – THIS IS IMPORTANT!
  • Devote 10-15 minutes a day to organize – YOU WILL BE HAPPY YOU DID!
  • Put everything away as soon as you can – NOW IS THE TIME!

As a business owner you will need to implement your
organizational skills daily; for you to be more productive. There will be times
when you’ll need to find notes or certain resources quickly; when you have
things organized and in order it will save you time and stress.

“Let all things be done decently and in order.” 1 CORINTHIANS 14:40

The Importance of Organizational Skill

Organizing is all about keeping things in proper order. For any
business, organization plays a significant role in helping you achieve
your goals. Practicing organizational skills will help you personally
and professionally, giving you a sense of control, which will help you
increase your daily productivity.  Most business owners are required to
wear many hats. This means having to balance many tasks efficiently and
effectively each day. If a business’ systems are not properly organized,
tasks pile up, paperwork gets lost and valuable time is spent on
finding information that should be readily available. Good
organizational skills can save a business owner time and reduce stress.

Plan – Practice –
Prepare

A great part of being successful in business is to practice
organizational skills at your work place. Keep in mind, “If anything can
go wrong – it will”. When you’re organized, and your day has been
planned – you will be more prepared for whatever may arise.

And REMEMBER – “Plans Don’t Work Unless You Do!”

So let’s chat a little bit about – Putting Your Plans into Action. The first step is to identify your goals. You have got to be specific, keep the goals reasonable, simple and write them down, hang them up so you can see it often.

Getting some support can help you put those plans into
action. Often times if you have someone to throw ideas at and talk them
through it can only help you move forward in the right direction. When
you invest your time, energy, and money into meeting your goals – you
are more likely to make that dream a reality. Once you start moving and
momentum kicks in YOU WILL BE UNSTOPPABLE!

So you are not the type of person to hit the ground running? Baby
steps can get you where you want to be – it just may take a little
longer and that’s OK! To move forward, you must first get started. You
can continue to

think about it…

talk about it…

and dream about it…

OR YOU CAN GET STARTED TODAY!!!

What are you waiting for … GO NOW … get those goals written
down!!!

Get your plan in place and MAKE IT HAPPEN!!

Finish Today’s Work
TODAY!

Try hard not to go into the next day with today’s work
assignments’ left on your desk. Let’s say you did that for a couple of days. Your
desk or work space will get cluttered; not to mention if you need to find
something in a hurry, everything can get shuffled around and make a big mess.  A messy desk will keep you from concentrating
and being effective.
